Infusing Shivambhu with Plant Potency - A short (er) conversation!

We are trying something new this month! Joanne and I decided to do a series of short discussions focused on one topic at a time. We love our long rambling chats, but also want to hone in some good info that is easy to listen to and integrate.

We are so pleased to start with Infusions (thank you to a member in my community for asking for this topic - you know who you are!).

Notes:
• Curiosity meets simplicity: The practice of infusing Shivambhu with herbs, powders, or plant materials is deeply personal. It can be simple—starting with one plant at a time.
• Fresh vs. aged: Fresh and aged Shivambhu offer different qualities. Aged Shivambhu tends to draw more from plant matter and has a subtle, evolved presence. Fresh is more immediate, often paired with powders or gentle herbs.
• Timing matters: Unlike alcohol tinctures, Shivambhu infusions can work within hours. Many people sip and taste throughout the day to feel how the plant and plasma interact over time.
• Less is more: Small amounts of both liquid and plant tend to be more effective. The idea is to observe, sense, and learn rather than overwhelm the system.
• Responsive medium: Shivambhu is seen as intelligent and responsive—it seems to “know” what to pull from a plant, and when. This changes how infusions are approached, often with more reverence than routine.
• Examples shared: Herbs like rosemary, black pepper, cayenne, moringa, lavender, juniper berries, lemon peel, and Ayurvedic powders (Triphala, Haritaki) came up as common ingredients people have tried.
• Noticing changes: Infusions often evolve throughout the day, and can shift in taste, potency, and appearance. Some people experience these changes as reflections of emotional or energetic states.

About - Megan Macdonald, PhD, is the founder of the Urine Therapy Research Initiative (UTRI) and facilitator of the Shivambhu Community of Practice. Her work brings together research, history, lived experience, and community wisdom to explore the ancient practice of Shivambhu (Urine Therapy). With a PhD in the Performance of Belief from Queen Mary, University of London, Megan combines academic inquiry with years of personal practice and facilitation. Rather than telling people what to believe, she invites them to observe more carefully, shift the lens of their questions, and discover what is true through their own experience.

Megan's work explores two complementary paths of self-healing that have profoundly transformed her own life. Shivambhu cultivates a daily relationship with the body's innate intelligence through direct experience and observation. The Self-Healing Dalian Method, created by Mada Eliza Dalian, enables the transformation of unconscious beliefs, conditioning and patterns, allowing for conscious awareness to expand. Together, these practices have shaped her approach to healing, research, and the power of community for growth.
